With its origins in the second half of the 80's, as a result of the consolidation of artistic projects of theater and dance that opened spaces to host their activities, the 1990s witnessed the birth of a research movement in Spain. The unique creation in the world, around the so-called Alternative Halls, which in 1992 founded the State Coordinator of Alternative Halls, now known as Red. This institution is the most dynamic of the different agents of the contemporary scene in the Spanish territory through the activities organized as a group of theaters that gathers 49 rooms in 15 CCAA, the projects it manages as an association, and the publication for more than 10 years of UBU magazine.
